Herbaria products are made from high quality, natural, vegetable derived ingredients. Nearly all the range is vegan. Where we do use honey and goat milk, we clearly label them.

We use high percentages of herbs that have traditionally been used in skincare products in many different cultures, as we believe that our products should have beneficial as well as cosmetic properties. All our soaps are tested on our volunteer group of people who suffer from eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis.

We never use Sodium Lauryl (or Laureth) Sulphate, Parabens and other irritating and potentially cancer causing chemicals. Nor do we add preservatives or artificial fragrances.

We add essential oils and tinctures extracted from plants. We choose those that have a history of benefit to skin; many also have preserving qualities.

By using essential oils we can make products that are kind to your skin, gentle on eczema and psoriasis, and also smell great! Many are also antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic.

Bright, vibrant colours are nearly always synthetic and potential irritants for sensitive skins. Coloured soaps are usually 'melt and pour' base often with detergents in them, even though they are called 'handmade'.

We use natural colourings obtained from flowers, seeds, seaweeds and minerals, (sometimes with unexpected results!) to produce shades and hues of cream, yellow, orange, pink, brown and green.
